The community is rallying behind the family of Ethan Alexander Cox and his twin Christian Cox, who were involved in a fatal crash earlier this month in Prince Frederick.

At approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, Alexander Cox was killed and his twin sustained critical injuries when they were involved in a head-on crash with a 26-year-old driver on Route 231.

Both were rushed to area hospitals. Ethan Cox was pronounced dead on his way there by first responders, while his brother was airlifted to Maryland Capitol Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries that include a ruptured disc, broken bones, and laceration to the bone of his knee, which had an air bubble, according to his family.

Following the fatal crash, their family is seeking the public’s assistance as they look to pay both for funeral and hospital-related costs while one son recovers.

Ethan Cox was set to be a senior at Patuxent High School when classes resume in the fall. His family says he enjoyed playing computer games with his brother and friends, and was an active athlete both in football and track and field.

Before his death, he was planning to serve his country in the United States Space Force.

“He was a happy, gentle, kindhearted, giving, loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend,” his family said. “He enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, going to the beach, fishing, diving for lobsters, and just living life to the fullest.

“He had the biggest heart, a wonderful smile, infectious laugh, and a beautiful spirit that brightened up all that had the pleasure of encountering him.”

Still recovering, Christian Cox is also an athlete, but he will be missing the upcoming football and track season due to his injuries. He too planned to serve his country in the military, but the crash may have derailed that career.

“We are asking for support to go towards his medical bills as well as college fund,” his father wrote on a GoFundMe. “Please give what you can.

“Our family thanks you for your donations and asks that you never pass up a chance to hug, kiss, dap, and let those you care about know it.”
